Flashing in some games.

How to optimize games for NTHUSIM products.

Postby tezzzaaa » Sun Jul 03, 2016 7:12 am

Hi.
Having problems with a couple of game including Skyrim and life is strange. The screen flashes constantly like a strobe.
Both games are on Steam but other Steam games work fine.
Ive tried everything i can think of like changing graphics settings running in admin etc. only running without nthusim stops it.
Any help or ideas appreciated.
Thanks.

I remember maybe SLI causes this issue too. have you tried disabling SLI for a test to see if it still Strobes?

I had that suspicion too. Tried it with life is strange and it didn't help. Haven't tried with skyrim yet, I'll test later. I did find last night that running in windowed stops it. Not ideal but it's a solution. Thanks for the advice.

I own both of those games, so I should be able to test against them sometime this coming week. I've ran into a strobing issue previously a few years ago on a few titles. I forgot how I addressed it though, so it'll require a bit of testing to figure out on the titles if I can reproduce the issue.

My initial guess is also that it might be something related to the game SLI profile settings. Problem is, I'm only single GTX980ti at the moment.

I'm using my Steam install of Skyrim and Life is Strange. Seems to be unaffected by flickering on my GTX980ti. Have you tried it with SLI turned off? Please bear in mind that if using Steam to make sure Steam settings for In-Game have the "Enable the Steam Overlay while in-game" is turned off. Also for IN-Game Streaming settings make sure "Enable streaming" is also turned off.

Yeah sli is the issue. Hadn't turned it off properly in life is strange
Oh well. Works in windowed. Hopefully will get fixed in later installments of nthusim and nvidia drivers.
Thanks for the advice and for the testing.

I'll let the Brisbane office know about the SLI flickering issue. Looks like both games are DX9 based, so it might be a DX9 specific issue.

On an unrelated note, I hear that there is going to be a new version of Skyrim released with rendering engine updates. Not sure what that entails but my hope is it's 64-bit and DX11 at least.

Thanks Brad.
Yea think I'll wait for the remaster. Did some googleing, seems no one knows if it will use dx11 or not but I would imagine it will.
I will let you know if I find any more games with the same issue.
Thanks
Tezzaa.

It's not ideal, but it seems to work fine on my setup without SLI. I'll have them look into why SLI is causing issues.
