What's new in this release?

  • Added support for Windows 7 Platform Upgrade
  • Shell integration
  • Added support for custom application cursors
  • Improved support for portrait mode in DX10/DX11 applications
Added support for DirectX 11.1

DirectX 11.1 is the latest thing in the DirectX world and we've got it covered. So when your favorite applications release their DirectX 11.1 versions, you're ready to go!

Added support for the Windows 7 Platform Upgrade

This is a bit more of a technical thing, but the windows 7 platform upgrade (which is currently an optional upgrade) will be rolled out to everyone at some point. It changed a lot of things internally. We've now rewritten those parts that needed it so there is a new code path to handle it. What does that mean for you? It means you don't have to worry about it... So let's just forget I brought it up.

Shell integration

We've added some features to make it a little more convenient. Things like you can double-click on an NTHUSIM backup file to restore it. You will also have the option to run NTHUSIM after the installer runs. Things like that.

Added support for custom application cursors

Some programs (like rFactor, for example) set a custom cursor. There are several ways to do this and previously NTHUSIM didn't really support this too well. Mainly because it's pretty rare. Version 3.3 now adds support for these custom cursors so if you've had trouble with the cursor in your application, chances are this was the problem.

Improved support for portrait mode in DX10/DX11 applications

Hands up if you're using Portrait mode!

If you have your hand in the air you know how awesome portrait mode can be! People are coming around to portrait mode more and more, but it took a while. Because of that there are several ways to do portrait and depending on what is being displayed it's either up to Windows or the driver to handle it. The DirectX 9 does it is different to DirectX 10 and 11.

If you had trouble with some Portrait modes in DirectX 10 or 11 applications, this should help!
